The Wedding

We clean up pretty well, don't you think? Considering it was a wedding, we should do our best. Not the most ordinary of weddings, but one we we were quite proud to be in attendance of. Jill and Crystal, you might remember them from a previous blog entry, were getting married. Shopping was rapid - Steve is a speed shopper - "it fits, let's go" - my hair and tanning was again thanks to Sara at My Scissors and I.

Jill and Crystal and their newly combined family - yep, six kids -

The wedding party from left to right was Lydia, Norm, Crystal's mom, and Crystal's cousin......oh yeah, it was a Moulin Rouge theme.
Lydia and Dave share a romantic moment. For those of you who don't know me that well, Lydia and I have know each other since I was pregnant with Jasmyn. The love between this couple has always been a model for me, and I have to thank them in this venue for being the ones to have been the link that connected Steve and I.

Braxton, the youngest in the family was an eager helper with the camera. Here he took a moment to pose. He made a touching speech from behind the podium where he spoke so innocently and frankly of the love that he felt for both of his moms and his new family; it was touching to hear such frankness from a child who has none of the prejudices has so unfairly become a part of our lives.

Brady was a charmer. He also took many pictures, including the next one. I was lucky to get him onto the dance floor, and for all of Jasmyn's friends ----- he is smooth on the dance floor!

And one of my man and I getting our moves down after the kids left.

Just a final note to say that love is an emotion, found sometimes in the least likely places and times. I truly believe that I have waited my whole life for Steve, though we have known each other for a relatively short time, we have purchased a house which we - Steve, Jasmyn, Chantal and I - intend to make a home. I believe that he is my soul mate, we have committed to each other to spend the rest of our lives together, as soul mates and lovers. (no mother, we don't need to be married to do that)
Having been raised as a Jehovah's Witness, my conscience was pricked at the thought of attending a lesbian wedding. Fortunately, I had met Jill and Crystal and was witness to the love and commitment that they had for each other. Love is an emotion, an overwhelming feeling that moves all of us. For those that can overcome the prejudices that society has ignorantly and biblically forced upon us, love is much more easily found, not confined by the constrictions placed upon us by society and family. I was honoured to celibrate this day with you.

Later days!
