Guess we should have taken it out of the envelope

Thereasa was wonderful enough to let me borrow her camera for these pics. (Thanks ever so much) I didn't have the flash on for the first one - but I managed to get it so that it wasn't all dark.

There are only four girls in the grade 7 french immersion class - from left to right - Rebecca, Lauren, Jasmyn and Wendy. Wendy received the proficiency award for grade 7.

Then we have Jasmyn's cousin Brandy, and a rare picture of myself.

The school has allowed Jasmyn to use a clarinet for the summer, and although she has only been playing it for a few weeks she is amazing already.

Yvonne led me to this really cool site from google. Click here to fly from continent to continent, view terrain and cities in 3D and even get driving directions. Definitely worth checking out.

Way to go Jasmyn!

I just finished a phone conversation with Jasmyn's principal, and I could not be more proud. She is going to be awarded with a scholarship to the Kincardine Music Featival from August 6th to the 19th! Mr. Martin - her music teacher - recommended Jasmyn for this, over all of the other students including those in grade 8!
We had talked about her going, but had decided to go with music lessons instead......change of plans again - lol. The school is going to let us borrow a clarinet for the summer so that she has it for the two weeks. I will post pictures on Wednesday of the award assembly. Thanks for listening to me gush!

Crafty Weekend

Chantal was so pleased with our little crafty project.......Jasmyn twirled the mermaid. Hopefully we will get an air conditioner this week; it is soooo hard to be productive when even thinking about doing things causes you to break out in a sweat.

Strongest woman we know

Jasmyn's grandmother is a cancer survior and has had to start chemotherapy again. Jasmyn would like to dedicate this poem to her. She is the strongest woman we know.

You see the pain that lies in her eyes,
But, alas, her eyes are dry,
She won't cry.
No, she won't cry.

You see the anger that burns from her gaze,
The madness that sets her eyes ablaze,
She won't cry.
No, she won't cry.

You see the fear that closes her eyes,
The smile she wears is but a disguise,
She won't cry.
No, she won't cry.

“Who wouldn’t be interested in everything that we do?”

It never ceases to amaze me how simple chores become large enough to take up more time than it should to complete them. I bought a hammock chair for Jasmyn, but before I could hang it, the room had to be cleaned, but then a dresser had to be moved, sweaters taken out of the closet – that meant more laundry first – then to add insult to injury, there was nothing in the ceiling to anchor the dang thing to. Now I have to patch up the tiny holes that we (my co-conspirator knows who she is) made trying to find a beam/stud. So the closet doors are coming off of the track and the track is being removed with the expectation that there will certainly be something solid there. This one-hour project is now a week old.
Jasmyn has just started playing the clarinet. This follows the tenor saxophone, trumpet and flute all of which she learned and played to a grade 8 level, so her teacher let her keep moving on. If she can decide on just one of them for the summer we are going to look into music lessons. She is really good – even the young fellow in the apartment above us thinks so…lol. I just couldn’t resist taking this quiz, though I wish that the results didn’t always come out the same as Wannietta’s – sigh.

You Are Cyclops

Dedicated and responsible, you will always remain loyal to your cause.
You are a commanding leader - after all, you can kill someone just by looking at them.

Power: force beams from your eyes

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my digital camera – purchased on e-bay yesterday. There should be lots of pictures as I play with my new toy, even better if my laptop comes back this week – I am almost giddy thinking about it!
Setting this up has taken longer than I thought it would. The laundry, despite my most stern commands, refuses to fold itself, so until my next post –
